Abstract. The article is devoted to the urgent problem related to the topic of the growing number of children with disabilities and the need to train students – future specialists-defectologists to work with children with hearing and vision impairment. The publication presents a description of the necessary knowledge and skills of a teacher-defectologist basing on the professional standard, and some material on the organization of undergraduate students’ training in the study of the discipline "Technical means of hearing and visual impairment correction". The model of the future teachers-defectologists’ training on the work with children with sensory disabilities has been developed and tested taking into account the use of technical means of hearing and visual impairments correction. The choice of teaching methods is presented, as well as the students’ competences formed as a result of mastering the discipline. The course program assumes implementation of the competence approach, setting individual tasks and goals for each student. The content of the course involves the disclosure of both theoretical aspects in the study on technical means of correction of hearing and visual impairment, and the system of practical tests and tasks presented after each topic study within the training manual made for the course. It should be noted that the content of the program under consideration of the future teachers-defectologists training on the use of technical means of hearing and visual impairment correction in the education of people with disabilities can be used not only in training at the undergraduate level, but also during professional retraining, advanced professional courses, also when planning methodological work in the educational organization, as well as when planning self-education of specialists.
