Abstract. In the modern world, where new professions are emerging that do not require high levels of specialization, competition in the field of employment is becoming more and more relevant, and college education, due to its significant duration, is losing its attractiveness. In this regard, educational institutions of the secondary vocational education system face the task of training qualified mid-level specialists who are able to apply successfully the acquired knowledge and skills both at the educational stage of their professional training and in real professional activity, initially in the process of educational practice, and later in their autonomous work. The practice shows the solution of this problem is possible, when students have an adequate value-semantic orientation to professional activity. Hence, one of the leading tasks of college education is to focus attention both on the technical and professional aspects of training, and on the development of personal qualities of future specialists, that will guarantee the high quality of their work and willingness to be responsible for its results. Proceeding from this, the system of secondary vocational education in Kazakhstan strives to meet the requirements of the modern labor market, so it ensures the formation of value-semantic orientation going onto professional activity among students of the technical profiles while studying at college. Only such graduates will be able to compete effectively in a rapidly changing world and contribute to the economic and social development of the country. This article investigates and analyzes the problem of forming a value-semantic orientation onto professional activity, provides statistics on the employment of students within the professional area, studies the work of researchers in the field of this topic, and also suggests possible ways to solve the problem of forming a value-semantic orientation to professional activity among students of a technical college: problem-based learning, training based on design, project method, interdisciplinary integration, network training.
