Abstract. The issue of folk traditions protection in young families is an essential problem of modern society. In the current social and economic situation in our country, young families are experiencing various crises, which cause a decrease in general culture level noticed in most families. Parents primarily care about the material support of the family and to a less extent about the spiritual and moral development and upbringing of their children. Direct communication and joint activities of young parents with children are increasingly reduced to a minimum. The problem is aggravated when it concerns schoolchildren who spend in general education institutions or additional education organizations most of their time. Since young families do not have enough resources to tackle this problem, it is necessary to organize outside help. To eliminate the issue, it is necessary to highlight the social and pedagogical support of a young family using the experience of previous generations based on folk family traditions. This article focuses on the professional standard for social work specialists, which is a methodological basis for the development of a family social and-pedagogical support model. The authors deal with the specifics of social and pedagogical support of a young family; they present the results of the study, where the participants are young parents on social services in the MI "Center for Social Assistance to Families and Children of Magnitogorsk". In the article special attention is paid to the description of the developed model of social and pedagogical support of a young family "Revival of folk family traditions", which can be used in social protection of the population.
