Abstract. An important element of future specialists training process in higher schools is the content of education. Qualitative selection of the education content will ensure a high level of graduates’ readiness for professional activities. Recognizing this fact, the authors considered the education content problem, analyzing the current situation in the regulatory sphere and relying on the accumulated methodological foundations. The construction of the content of education currently is carried out taking into account the federal state educational standards of higher education, which determine the requirements for the results of the development of educational programs in the form of a set of competencies.  The selection of the content of education should be based on the methodological grounds which have been accumulated by domestic scientists so far - V.V. Kraevsky, V.S. Lednev, I. Ya. Lerner, M.N. Skatkin as well. As part of this article, the authors referred to the integration of modern regulatory requirements and domestic methodology in the selection of educational content for students studying in such fields as 44.03.05 Pedagogical education, 44.03.02 Psychological and pedagogical education, 44.03.03 Special disabilities education. The selection of education content made by the authors is presented on the example of a specific academic discipline - Regulatory and ethical foundations of professional activity, which is aimed at acquiring general professional competence - GPC - 1. The authors present one of the possible options for constructing the content of education within the discipline and recommend an approximate thematic plan, a sample of an integrated assignment, supposed educational technologies. This article will be useful for the heads of university educational programs, as well as the teachers, sorting out the problem of education content selection at the level of specific academic disciplines.
