Abstract

The article raises the problem of improving the quality of the results of higher education, carried out in the form of e- learning with the use of distance technologies; the question is  the merits of the electronic educational environment functioning created and developed at G.I. Nosov MSTU; the problems arising in this connection are characterized and the ways of their solution proposed by the author are revealed. The leading research method is factor analysis, which allows, on the one hand, to objectively assess the advantages of distance education, and on the other hand, to identify the disadvantages and outline ways to solve urgent problems of distance learning related to both material and technical and didactic and methodological facilities of the process of mastering educational disciplines by the students. In the main body of the article, five factors are indicated concerning the information, material and technical, didactic, diagnostic and technological equipment of the process of organizing distance learning, and their detailed description is also presented: this is, firstly, the presence of electronic information in the university. - educational environment; secondly, the necessary and sufficient material and technical equipment of the workplaces of all participants in education; thirdly, methodological support of all teaching materials; fourthly, a clearly developed and communicated criterion assessment of the completed assignments; and, fifthly, sufficient preparedness in terms of computer literacy of education participants as effective users. As a basis for discussion, a fragment of one of the tasks in the discipline "Methodology and Methods of Scientific Research" is proposed, which gives a fairly complete picture of students’ skills, the formation of which this task is aimed at.
