Abstract. The author examines the anthroponyms that are being used by the Orthodox Turkic ethnic group living in the Chelyabinsk region in the current century. The 60 Nagaibak proper names were taken for the analysis, included in Nikolai Pavlovich Vasiliev’s (a gatherer) collection. The object of the research is directly the anthroponyms used in the Nagaibak society. The author of the article examines the distinctive features of the naming tradition in various socio-cultural groups. The relevance of this research lies in the importance of studying the Nagaibaks anthroponymicon, which had not previously been represented in scientific discourse. Personal names can reflect both the peculiarities of religious, ideological, cultural and ethical attitudes of society, as well as the aesthetic preferences of the people as a whole, that confirms the need to consider the anthroponymicon in order to understand the specifics of ethnic consciousness. The historical and etymological analysis of lexical units was chosen as the research method.
