Abstract. The article deals with an outstanding teacher of the 20th century S. A. Shchulepnikov, who came to Magnitogorsk in the 1930s and worked both in secondary schools and at the Magnitogorsk State Pedagogical Institute. Shchulepnikov paid a lot of attention to educational activities: he organized literature and musical evenings at schools, drama clubs, gave lectures on History of Theater; he was the first in the city who began to teach World Art Culture to students and schoolchildren; created a symphony orchestra. He was personally acquainted with F. I. Сhaliapin and left memories about him published in the book later. In that book Сhaliapin was represented in a slightly different and unusual foreshortening. For many years S.A. Shchulepnikov communicated with the famous writer F. A. Vigdorova and became the prototype of her book character – a teacher in the story "My Class". The book was translated into many languages. S. A. Shchulepnikov knew poetess N.G. Kondratkovskaya, writer N.P. Voronov. He experienced the arrest and exile. Although, Shchulepnikov came from the upper class, he always remained true to the ideals of the Communist Party. During the war years, he gave more than a hundred concerts in hospitals; gave more than 250 lectures on various essues in factories workshops, schools, culture centers. Being elderly, he continued to carried out his educational activities. The name of this outstanding person was forgotten unjustly, and our goal is to keep the memory of the unique people who devoted themselves to culture and education establishment in Magnitogorsk.
