Abstract. The study of demography is directly related to the family value orientations of young people. Modern Russian reality raises questions about the present and the future of the country, and, of course, young people with their own vision of the world, value orientations, behavioral attitudes and life priorities are at the center of this problem. The problem of spiritual degradation is closely interconnected with the problem of the demographic security of society. And from this point of view, the study of family values and orientations of young people is a necessary basis for understanding the specifics of the ongoing changes in modern reality and the possibility of predicting indicators of demographic behavior and the development of society in the short term. Reducing the potential for a positive impact on the Russian birth rate of the structural factor requires the activation of reproductive attitudes among small young categories of the population. In this regard, today the study of the attitudes of the young generation to the birth of children and the creation of a family is an actual and popular direction of research. Youth is the most active part of society, behind which the future stands. This fact determines the need for a detailed study of the value orientations of young people. The article presents a sociological study using a quantitative method of collecting information, on the basis of the data obtained, an in-depth analysis was carried out and statistical data were presented. The research problem lies in the lack of information about the factors that have the greatest impact on the interest of young people in building a family. This article, from a methodological standpoint, focuses on the problem of family values and orientations of Russian youth from the standpoint of their determining influence on the demographic development of Russia and ensuring its demographic security. The article also substantiates the importance of the formation of family values and orientations of Russian youth, and they should be studied in the context of the institutional transformation of the family and family relations, which determines the diversity of family types, family values and relations in modern Russia.
