Abstract

The article reflects the results of a study of parent-child relationships in a foster family. With the help of specially developed diagnostic tools, the authors studied the features of child-parent communication in various types of families, identified targets for psychological assistance to substitute families. Noteworthy is the compiled and tested program of the parent-child club for working with substitute families, which can be used in the activities of a social pedagogue, a psychologist at social-psychological and rehabilitation centers; recommendations to foster families on the formation of favorable parent-child relationships. The program includes the following forms and methods: lectures and practical exercises; round tables; master classes; thematic events; classes using the elements of training, analysis of activity products, problem situations; reflexive sessions; creative, psychological and pedagogical workshops with the participation of parents and children, classes at the base of a tent camp for substitute families, etc. The novelty of the program is the involvement of not only foster children, but also biological children from foster families, the recruitment and training of volunteers to work with a foster family. The results of the use of the program include: raising the educational potential and improving the psychological resource of a substitute family; raising the level of psychological and pedagogical consistency of substitute parents, minimizing cases of refusal of substitute families from the child, preventing crisis situations in the family, and disseminating positive experience in raising orphans and children left without parental care in substitute families. The results of the study of parent-child relationships can be the basis for the development of technologies for psychological and pedagogical support of foster families, identifying the main directions of psychological assistance to a foster family, including raising children with disabilities.
