Abstract. Soviet newspapers were used by the authorities to shape public consciousness and mobilize the population. They became a key propaganda tool, since even agitators used newspaper materials as a basis for their professional activities, and discussion of their content on the radio only emphasizes the exceptional importance of the printed word in wartime. This article analyzes the lyrics of songs and ditties published in the Soviet press during the Great Patriotic War. The possibility of their influence on the formation of public consciousness and mobilization of the population is studied. The research is based on archival materials of the Chelyabinsk newspapers “Nash Traktor” and “Za Trudovuyu Doblest”, as well as documents of party meetings and reports of district party committees. The work emphasizes the role of the periodical press as the main instrument of ideological influence in wartime, revealing new aspects: the use of musical works in propaganda campaigns. The author shows how songs inspired soldiers to heroic deeds, and work collectives to labor feats. The author examines in detail the propaganda techniques used in these works, such as dehumanization of the enemy and praising one's own achievements. The research opens a new perspective in the study of propaganda methods during the Great Patriotic War, emphasizing the importance of the musical component in shaping the ideals and moods of the population.
