Abstract. The article represents annual major scientific publications review of Institute for the Humanities teachers, Nosov Magnitogorsk State Technical University. The author examines the scientific works of 2021 and analyzes them according to the practical significance criterion used to evaluate the "actual" achievements of a scientist, scientific groups, schools, scientific directions and specifically manifested in humanitarian and pedagogical researchers. This criterion is presented out of the peculiarities of humanitarian cognition as a specialized cognitive activity of a person. The author of the review, reflecting on the pragmatic value of focused study of human practices in synchronic and diachronic aspects, comes to the conclusion that it is essential to form humanistic ideals on a scientific basis; the necessity and importance of humanitarian research is provided by an unlimited range of humanitarianism issues and a vast palette of aspects of the studying problems. A wide variety of objects from different areas of life and professional activity is exposed to the attention of Humanities scientists. They are united by one thing – the comprehension of human experience. The monographic studies of 2021 in the selection of topics, the choice of a subject, methods, goals of study and fields of application of the developments determined by the scientists demonstrate a special type of cognitive activity of Humanities scientists, their specific social activity, shown in their researches even collaborating with scientists of non-humanitarian fields. In any case, humanitarians always identify the value component of the analyzed human practice for a certain epoch, social group, individual, type of human activity, social behavior, public policy, etc. Stating this or that value, the authors of the studied publications give it a kind of expert assessment, recommend or do not recommend the analyzed human experience for replication, denote its usefulness / uselessness, danger / safety, productivity / unproductivity, etc.
