Abstract. This This article examines the development of higher education teachers' readiness to make a university educational environment using a competency-based approach. The objective of the study is to use a competency-based approach to determine the content of a teacher readiness to create a university educational environment. The methodological basis of the study is the analysis of psychological and pedagogical literature, regulatory documents, and A.V. Khtorskoy's classification of key competencies. The study reveals the structure of university teachers' readiness to build an educational environment, including motivational-value, cognitive, operational-activity, and reflective components. Readiness is understood as an integrative personal and professional quality, comprising a system of key competencies: value-semantic, general cultural, educational-cognitive, informational, communicative, social-labour, and personal self-improvement competencies. The work proposes a modular professional program for developing university faculty members' readiness in order to design some pedagogical space. It consists of four sequential modules, each aimed at developing specific competencies. The first module develops value-based competencies. The second module develops educational, cognitive, informational, and general cultural competencies. The third module develops personal development and communication competencies. The fourth module focuses on developing social, labor, and communication competencies. The professional development program aims to gradually and holistically develop all components of faculty members' readiness to build a pedagogical environment at university.
