Abstract. The article is devoted to the study of the state and prospects for the development of legal education in general and professional educational institutions of the Russian Federation. The purpose of the work is to identify the current problems of legal education in schools and colleges, to develop proposals for improving its content, forms and methods, and to determine the directions for improving the legal literacy and legal awareness of students. An integrated approach was used as the methodological basis of the study, which includes an analysis of regulatory legal acts, scientific and methodological literature, empirical methods (practical experience of the author). The main results of the study indicate the need to update the content of legal education in accordance with modern realities. It is proposed to strengthen the practical focus of education, use interactive methods and technologies, and involve representatives of law enforcement agencies, judges, lawyers, and other legal specialists in conducting classes. The scope of application of the research results includes the activities of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, regional education authorities, school and college teaching staff, and organizations that provide professional development for teachers. The results of the work can be used in the development of new educational programs, methodological recommendations, and manuals on legal education, as well as in organizing events on legal education and upbringing of young people.
