Abstract. This article proposes a four-level functional-semantic model of taxis actualization in German utterances with prepositional deverbatives. The model includes (a) the lexical-aspectual characteristics of the deverbative, (b) the marking function of the preposition, (c) the aspectual properties of the predicate verb, and (d) optional iterative operators. Using the data from the German Digital Dictionary (DWDS), we identify and systematize taxis relations (simultaneity, precedence, following) with the prepositions während, vor, nach, and seit, as well as adverbial-tactic (syncretic) relations with the prepositions in, bei, mit, and unter – modal, medial, conditional, and causal ones. A typology of multiple taxis situations is developed. The model is applicable to theoretical grammar, functional grammar, and translation practice.
