Abstract. The Historical scholarship allows us to fully reveal the personalities of outstanding individuals through their lives, deeds, and achievements in a particular field of professional activity. Biographical life stories help us understand the uniqueness of these individuals, their creative aspirations, and the paths they took when achieving their goals, opening the door to scientific exploration of the unknown. Therefore, from ancient times to the present day, the personalities of prominent scholars have been highly valued. This article, drawing on a variety of sources, attempts to uncover the life and work of Ivan Fedorovich Galiguzov, an iconic figure of Magnitogorsk. This man endured difficult trials as a child during the nazi occupation. His talent enabled him to achieve heights of professional excellence, becoming a professor and Doctor of Historical Sciences. Whatever his position, I. F. Galiguzov's work demonstrated the finest human qualities. He was a man of high civic duty and a proactive approach to life. Such people exemplify service to the Fatherland. His scholarly works remain relevant today. An analysis of the I. F. Galiguzov’s monographs, being a local historian, demonstrates his powerful potential in studying his native region. The author conveys the economic history of the postwar Ural industry, the culture, and everyday life of the peoples of the Southern Urals with a high level of professionalism, fully utilizing the tools of historical scholarship.
