Abstract. This article attempts to analyze the initiative that was implemented by Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works employees and residents of the Chelyabinsk Region to raise funds for the construction of the Chelyabinsk Komsomolets (M-105) submarine and its subsequent transfer to the Northern Fleet in 1943. Special attention is paid to the transfer process and the further combat fate of the ship successfully passed the entire war. In our opinion, the relevance of the work is undeniable, since the events of the last war years clearly demonstrate the importance of the unity of the front and home front. This historical experience today, in the context of a special military operation, is the main component of the socio-political life of modern Russia and the basis for patriotic education and involvement of the younger generation in volunteerism. In the course of the research, the author came to the conclusion that the contribution of the Chelyabinsk region population to the Victory in the Great Patriotic War was significant and versatile. The Uralians became the initiators and creators of numerous military formations that defeated the fascists on various fronts, as well as provided comprehensive support to the army and navy. This is also confirmed by the numerous archival document’s evidences of and memoirs of participants in events introduced into scientific circulation for the first time.
