Abstract. The scientific essay is dedicated to the results of the VII All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference "Genealogy and Archeology", held on May 24, 2025 in the United State Archive of the Chelyabinsk Region. A general overview of the reports’ topics is given on certain aspects of the methodology and practice of working with archival sources in the execution of genealogical inquiries, biographies, independent study of the history of genera and families; as well as in the development of educational trajectories for educational organizations; in library and museum business. In addition to the review of the presentations, a two-volume collection of conference materials was analyzed, which significantly expanded the geography of genealogical researchers and allowed us to speak about the enormous public interest in the conference topic, the state significance of such events and the genealogical field itself in science. The materials of the collection testify to the existence of a powerful ideological, educational, and developing potential of genealogical research, which has not yet been fully understood by specialists; their significance for different generations of Russian citizens; and most importantly, about the value of archives of all types and profiles in terms of acquisition, storage, accounting and use of a variety of genealogical information. The reports presented and published by the conference participants confirmed the thesis that the ethno-cultural diversity of our country and the Southern Urals, in particular, is a powerful bond of our vast state. This is proved by people’s biographies, families’ and clans’ histories.
